ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN SANTA MARTA

Private transportation from the airport to Santa Marta’s historic center. Check-in for an overnight stay at a hotel in Santa Marta. Night-out, welcome dinner, walk around the historical center and salsa dancing (depending on arrival time).

DAY 2: SANTA MARTA – MINCA

Breakfast at the hotel. Shopping, money exchange or withdrawals. Check out in Santa Marta at 11 am private transportation to Minca. Check-in Minca & lunch in nature, relax walk around town. At 4 pm get ready for a cultural experience & Spanish practice Vive Musicaribe & fusion dance while enjoying the sunset. Dinner and rest.

DAY 3: MINCA BIRDWATCHING AND TREKKING

Early wake up for a birdwatching tour, while walking through the sacred mountains of la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Organic coffee and breakfast. Trekking to the waterfalls & trash collection. Lunch at a local farm. Walk back to town and time off. Dinner (out of the tour) and relax.

DAY 4: MINCA

Have breakfast, enjoying locally grown with organic coffee. Guided visit to a Natural Reserve and conservation initiative. Bio-construction workshop or Indigenous sawing “mochilas” workshop. Lunch at the reserve. Time off. Enjoy your time off and visit the community of Minca. Dinner at the accommodation and get ready for the following day.

DAY 5: MINCA – ORGANIC AGRICULTURE COFFEE & CACAO TOUR

Breakfast at your accommodation, check out. Pack a small bag with the necessary stuff for the next day’s hike. Your bag will be taken by car to the natural reserve. Hike to a coffee and cacao farm, for cacao and coffee tours. Local lunch. Check-in at the farm. Help in the garden with organic agriculture. Time off and enjoy an amazing sunset and storytelling about the history of the location. Accommodation and Colombian dinner at a farm in the mountains.

DAY 6: MINCA – BONDA

Early breakfast at the farm. Enjoy exotic landscapes and wildlife watching in the rainforest of the Colombian Caribbean with a great diversity of flora and fauna with local guides while hiking. Trekking to a natural reserve 6hrs away. Wildlife watching with local guides while hiking. Snacks & drinks for the walk. Vegetarian lunch and dinner. Double accommodation at the reserve.
Difficulty hiking Level 5:  Moderate – Inclines start to get more intense. Gain and distance go up. No Beginners, No Kids, Some Teens, Dogs, Hiking Footwear Recommended, Water Required

DAY 7: BONDA – TAGANGA

Wake up in the middle of the forest of a 20-year-old natural reserve, have breakfast and develop volunteer conservation activities, lunch at the reserve. Rest and swim in the river. Transportation to Taganga at 3 pm. Accommodation in Taganga. Dinner together at a local restaurant.

DAY 8: TAGANGA – MARINE PROTECTED AREAS

Breakfast. Introduction meeting for the Marine conservation project. Discover Scuba Diving (Minicourse) with certificate 1 pool dive +2 Open Water Dives max. depth 12m (for nonexperienced divers/options available for experienced divers). Introductory speech. Lunch in Town. Time off. Dinner out, not included in the tour.

DAY 9: TAGANGA– MARINE PROTECTED AREAS

Breakfast. Scuba diving, coral reef conservation activities and trash collection from the beach/ ocean in marine protected areas. Lunch at the beach. Dinner out.

DAY 10: TAGANGA – SANTA MARTA

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. Transportation to Santa Marta and check in a beach hostel near the airport. It could be a free day to visit Santa Marta or enjoy a relaxing day by the beach/rest.

DAY 11: SANTA MARTA – MINCA ENVIRONMENTAL EVENT

Breakfast. Transportation to Minca. Event to promote reduction of plastic use, recycling, and the importance of water conservation. Lunch. Transportation back to Santa Marta.

DAY 12: SANTA MARTA

Breakfast at the hotel. End of our services.

Any foreigner who is temporarily in the country can have access and receive health care, at hospitals and clinics in the case of an emergency, sudden illness or chronic disease. For faster attention, it is always useful to have an international medical and accident insurance.
The closest hospital is located in Santa Marta city, 40 minutes by taxi from Minca and 20min from Taganga or the nearby beaches. There are Health Centres located in Minca and Taganga, which attend to basic medical emergency care.

The yellow fever vaccine is not mandatory, but recommended.
